About

Why the name Columbiad? Owner Johnathan Bailey lives within the bounds of Fort Heiman National Park. His home is situated where the fort battery was located and Columbiad cannons were used.

Owners Johnathan Bailey and Jason Gordon met in 2016 while working at an aircraft manufacturer in Paris, Tennessee. While both are originally from North Carolina they did not know one another prior to meeting in Paris.

They decided to branch out on their own and began with just a business idea, one laser, one brake and themselves. Today they have expanded to over 40 employees and intend to continue pursuing growth while maintaining the core values that helped them grow.

Johnathan Bailey is a 2013 graduate of The University of Chapel Hill. He holds a BA in Peace, War and Defense; a program run in conjunction with Duke University. As well as a BA in American History. He is a pilot and served in the Navy for flight school before being discharged for a leg injury. This is what led him to West Tennessee to be the test pilot for an LSA manufacturer where he met Mr. Gordon.

Jason Gordon is a 2016 graduate of Nashville State. He pursued training in AutoCad and Solidworks. He has years of experience in the metal manufacturing industry. He moved to Paris, TN to aid in the programming and engineering of LSA aircraft components.
